Rumi Poem 2

Dear Soul

Dear soul, when the condition comes

that we call being a lover,

there's no patience, and no repenting.

Both become huge absurdities. See regret

as a worm and love as a dragon.

Shame, changeable weather. Love,

a quality which wants nothing.

For this kind of lover love

of anything or anyone is unreal.

Here, the source

and object are one.

Gamble everything for love,

if you're a true human being.

If not, leave

this gathering.

Half-heartedness doesn't reach

into majesty. You set out

to find God, but then you keep

stopping for long periods

at meanspirited roadhouses.

Senegal/Istanbul - blogging?

Possible, yes.  I've read many a seafarer's blogs. But aside from that one post, it just didn't take precedence over what was happening before us and to us.  More to follow.

When you fly into Dakar, the first thing you see is this ginormous statue, The African Renaissance Monument. It is huge and we definitely plan to climb to the top before we leave.
We met with the Minister of Culture, Racine Senghor, a great connection through Kelly's friend Habib.  We talked about Senegalese literature and he shepherded the process for our film permit which we received gratuit.  Per the blogs, a film permit isn't necessary, but good thing we got it, because day 1 of filming and folks are asking.

Our first day in the market.  Kelly bought a veil, Zach bought two boubous.  Pix to follow.
